LA PERLE DE BOIS
1909 Perle de Bois’s savoir-faire has been strengthened and enriched over four generations and this craftperson’s workshop in Montfavet, near Avignon, has slowly over time acquired its reputation for reliability and quality.
Amélie Richard, who has managed the family business since 2013, has built on this strong legacy to open up new markets and new development leads in line with the environment, the architecture and contemporary tastes.
This has led to the art of boxwood curtains and traditional Provençal iconography being revived and turned towards new objects, new uses and new atmospheres.
With the palette of colours ranging from black to gold, with beads of new sizes and shapes, with monumental pieces, outdoor installations, more refined designs and motifs and new products to be unveiled, 1909 Perle de Bois has a great future ahead of it.

CRAFTSPEOPLE
Amélie Ricard has conceived the bead curtain as a moving work of art.
1909 Perle de Bois is also a laboratory which strives to provide technical solutions for any original, specific or extreme decorative desires so that the curtains and decorative curtains they create and produce match requests as closely as possible with flexibility and ingenuity.
Anything is possible. The bead and its hook allow a limitless, diverse range. This core principle is built upon an ever-greater mastery throughout the chain of production in the Montfavet workshops, from the production of the beads, the creativity of the colours, the choice of wood and the making of the curtains. It’s also embedded in the appropriate support and assembly solutions for each specific case, with no fixed pattern and great freedom to create something new.

USEFUL AND BEAUTIFUL
Playing with the almost infinite combination of beads, colours, sizes, uses and designs, Amélie Ricard asserts the curtain as a main feature of contemporary decoration. Placed as much inside houses and architectural features as in outdoor spaces, the curtain invades spaces with ever greater audacity. It fears nothing and blends into all spaces: it can be minimalist or exuberant, feature on furniture, surround staircases, cover walls, become a decorative work or become a screen.
It instantly plays with the warmth of the wood, the movement of its structure, the nuances of its colours, simply to create an interplay between light and shade, to invent subtle and elegant atmospheres.
